  Back in march, Brian Russell  was invited to  the prestigeous National Metal Museum at Memphis to lecture,demonstrate and run a workshop at the anual "Forging on the river "conference assisted by blacksmith Matthew Snape,who incidentally made the pheasants in the gates below.  The sketch above shows the design of the gate that was made during the demonstration

Another commission,this time more sculptural ,is a screen of stylised reeds  with a bittern and reed warbler.  This will be installed at Saltholme nature reserve near Hartlepool.
 
 
We have an interesting pair of gates to make for a client north of the border.They will feature 3D pheasants,and a central thistle motif

The longer established members of the British Artist blacksmiths Association may remember a pair of park gates made as a group project at Little Newsham  about 15 years ago.They were designed by a group of local people at a workshop led by arts officer Katherine Pearson. The project worked out well, the gates are still there and well looked after .  Sunderland Council  now have decided to create a new entrance to the park,and we have been given the job of making another pair to match.The work in now in progress.
